I don't want your money.
Problem: Campaigns have become too expensive. It's all about the media buy, isn't it? Whoever spends the most money usually wins. Only multi-millionaires, or those who become beholden to them, can afford to run for office. The common voter has become disenfranchised from the process. I don't want to force any Democratic candidate in the upcoming primary to deplete valuable campaign funds in order to run against me. That's why I'm not going to spend any money, and that's why I don't want any of yours. If the idea of taking money out of politics appeals to you, consider voting for me. Solution: Take the money out of political campaigns. Ban commercial political advertising. I'm not kidding. Thirty-second TV and radio spots with Madison Avenue voice-overs tell us nothing about a candidate, anyway. Let's use the power of the internet, media coverage, and fair, open, public debates to get candidates' messages to the voters. Will that work? Let's give it a try. But I could use a few good volunteers; Call me. Vote. This site was designed entirely by James W Moore, and I am the sole author of its contents. Since it runs on my own web server, I can legitimately claim that it was paid for by James W. Moore for Congress, even though I didn't charge myself. |
